Find Me In The River

Murry and I watched “I Still Believe” recently.  The song “Find Me In the River” by Delirious was in one part of the movie. Murry and I had not heard the song in years, but we love it and the band. Anyway, I haven’t been able to get the song out of my head since we watched the movie. The lyrics are really good and are about someone seeking God in the middle of some type of hardship maybe in repentance or maybe just due to the fact that they need and want more of Jesus. I thought about our world and how much we need to press into God right now and trust Him to get us through this COVID19. I totally believe He will! We may have to “wait in the river” for a while, but we can trust Him. It may not be on our timeline, but He’ll do it!

And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Lyrics to Find Me In The River

Find me in the River

Find me on my knees

I’ve walked against the water

Now I’m waiting if you please

We’ve longed to see the roses

But never felt the thorns

And bought our pretty crowns

But never paid the price

Find me in the River

Find me there

Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare

Even though you’re gone

And I’m cracked and dry

Find me in the River

I’m waiting here

Find me in the River

Find me on my knees

I’ve walked against the water

Now I’m waiting if you please

We didn’t count on suffering

We didn’t count on pain

But if there are blessings in the valley

Then in the River I will wait

Find me in the River

Find me there

Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare

Even though you’re gone

And I’m cracked and dry

Find me in the River

I’m waiting here

Find me in the river

Find me there

Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare

Even though you’re gone

And I’m cracked and dry

Find me in the river

I’m waiting here for you

Come find me here…

Find me in the River…

Find me here for you…

Oh wash over me…

Find me here

Keep on Keeping On

Today one of Robbie’s stories in reading was about Glenn Cunningham, a man who set the world record for running the fastest mile in 1934. Apparently, Glenn’s legs had been badly burned in a fire when he was eight, to the point that doctors said he would never walk again. Glenn was determined to prove them wrong, however, he not only couldn’t walk, but also had no feeling in his legs. Glenn began to pray that his legs would hurt so at least he would feel something. Eventually he began to feel the sensation of pain, and one day he was able to stand alone. Unfortunately, the pain got worse and worse. Glenn thought to himself, if he could just run, the pain wouldn’t matter, because he’d be focusing so hard on running, he wouldn’t notice. So Glenn began running which indeed kept his mind off the pain. First, he won a local one mile race, then trained for other races, and finally went on to win the world record for the mile in 1934, which was truly a miracle.  He had so much determination and perseverance, even while in pain. He never quit. He never stopped trying to become better. He didn’t let his obstacles keep him from going to a higher level. I loved his story! But the best part was the verse at the end. I needed it today…..

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Galatians 6:9

Cool side note- In the 1940’s Glenn opened the Glenn Cunningham Youth Ranch in Kansas, where he and his wife helped 10,000 needy and abused children.

Indispensable

I woke up this morning at 4:52am with these verses playing in my head! It was so clear! So I wrote them down and went back to sleep! Anyway, just wanted to give a word of encouragement. If you feel like who you are and your role in life are not important, let this be a reminder that you are indispensable (which means absolutely necessary)! Even if you feel weak at times, you matter and you have a purpose! God’s power is made perfect in weakness.

1 Corinthians 12:22

On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable.

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Hearts

Valentine’s Day. The day of love. Some people really enjoy this day and some people really don’t. A lot of different thoughts come to my mind when I think about Valentine’s Day. Sometimes I think of sweet cards, chocolate, and flowers. Or I think of romance, poetry, and love songs.  But the first thing I thought of today was a heart. At first I thought of the traditional hearts you see everywhere on Valentine’s Day. But then I thought of what “heart” really means, not just the heart shape. People often say “that person has a big heart or a good heart” meaning kind, compassionate, giving, etc. The Bible mentions the heart over and over again. It tells us that we should “guard our heart because everything we do flows from our heart”. When the Bible talks about the heart it means the core, inner person which includes a person’s mind, will, and emotions.

In our fallen world there are unfortunately many who have evil hearts and as a result there are some very tragic, horrible things happening in the world today. Those who commit terrible crimes have overtly evil hearts. But what about the not so obvious, covertly evil hearts? My mind immediately went to the Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus really lit into them! Why? Weren’t they beautiful? They were important, impressive, and glamorous religious leaders! They spoke eloquently, they knew the law, they were intelligent and knowledgeable! Surely these important people had good hearts, right?  Nope. Jesus saw right through them and it angered him. Why? Because of the condition of their hearts. What they appeared to be didn’t matter to him. He called them white washed tombs! He called them hypocrites. They were full of greed and self indulgence and had corrupt hearts. But surely they were better than blatant, obvious criminals? No because sin is sin. I’m sure Jesus would have rather them come to him as the most outwardly awful of sinners with a repentant heart than with the self righteous, prideful hearts he saw in them! Jesus told them they had neglected the more important things- justice, mercy, and faithfulness.

In contrast, God described David as a man after His own heart. David was far from perfect, but he had an obedient heart, a heart that depended on God, and a heart that was repentant. He was truly the opposite of what the Pharisees and Sadducees were.

So what is God drawn to? A humble heart. A loving heart. A compassionate heart. A giving heart. Not perfection. We don’t have to be perfect to have a good heart. We simply have to have a tender heart that truly wants to please the Lord. More than likely our lives will show the fruit of the Spirit as well….love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Here’s a little exercise that I ran across as a check up of having a loving heart in terms of 1st Corinthians 13. Put your name in the blanks in the following verses and see how you do. Remember perfection is not the goal, but having a tender, soft heart is.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

New Living Translation (NLT)

___________is patient and kind. ________is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. __________does not demand its own way. __________is not irritable, and ________keeps no record of being wronged. ________does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. _______never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Proverbs 27:19

As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.

Luke 6:45

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Luke 8:15

As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.

His Grace is Sufficient

I wrote the following on Friday 1/3/2020

Landon’s been out of school for 15 days today. Three days left until school starts back and I can hardly wait! (Does that make me a terrible Mom? Just being real here!) So far today Landon wet the bed/floor twice, poured a bag of dog food out on the floor, and shattered the blades of an oscillating fan all over his room by putting an unknown object (don’t know what) into the fan while it was on! Not to mention breaking random toys. This was all before noon. I’m thankful to say he didn’t get hurt in all of this. Landon’s guardian angels seriously work overtime to keep that baby safe!

Don’t know if I’ll share…didn’t want to be a complainer…but I would like to encourage someone…you can make it….whatever it is…you can do it…not with your strength, but His. Philippians 4:13

Sunday 1/5/2020

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

I heard this verse just as clearly as anything today in my spirit during praise and worship at church. I wondered if God wanted me to share all of the above then the pastor said the same scripture again in his sermon so it was confirmation to me to share the verse and what I wrote above for someone… His grace is sufficient for you. I don’t know what you’re facing. Maybe it’s something very difficult and you feel like you’re praying and nothing changes. Maybe it’s a circumstance/problem that that you’ve faced for years and never feel like you can get past it. If we could do what He called us to do on our own, why would we need Him? It’s His strength that carries us. His grace is sufficient. Am I saying that everything is going to be easy peasy? Nope. Am I saying that you’ll understand on this side of Heaven? Nope. But what I am saying is that He’s there.  He’ll never leave you. He’ll give you what you need at the right moment, just when you need it.

Definition of grace-

  • a divinely given talent or blessing.

plural noun: graces

“the graces of the Holy Spirit”

  • the condition or fact of being favored by someone.

Definition of sufficient-

enough; adequate.

Known and Loved

“Fully known and loved by you” are some lyrics from a song I heard recently (Known, by Tauren Wells) and it brought some thoughts to mind about the richness of God’s love and reminded me of the following quote:

To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.

~Timothy Keller

Have you ever thought about how human love just cannot compare to the love of Father God and His son, Jesus.  Sometimes people fail us in their ability to understand us. Sometimes they fail us in their ability to love us. Sometimes they love us, but don’t understand us. Sometimes they understand us, but don’t love us. But the Lord understands us better than we understand ourselves AND loves us more than we can imagine. When I heard this song, I thought it was just beautiful. Jesus’ love is perfect. We are truly known (understood) and loved by Him. There is nothing greater.

Jeremiah 31:3

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

Titus 3:4-5

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit

Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

John 10:14-15

I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Choose Thankfulness

Why is it so hard to be thankful in life when something bad happens? Did the good things in life change? Did the bad circumstance change the blessings/goodness God has given us?

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.

Psalm 95:2-3

It’s a shift in perspective that causes us to focus on the negative thing. When things are going the way we want, we’re happy, we feel good. It’s easy to be thankful. Let something we don’t like happen then suddenly we’re having a bad day, we’re in a bad mood and we don’t feel like being thankful.

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

But none of this changes who God is, His character, His goodness. I’m not saying all this because I’ve arrived or anything, quite the opposite! This morning we woke up to quite a mess in Landon’s room! He has a toilet in his room. Let’s just say he didn’t make it to the toilet last night. I wish I could say this was a once in a while thing, but it’s more like an every other day thing.

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

1 Peter 1:6-7

Also, we accidentally left Landon’s closet unlocked last night. Landon’s closet has not one but two locks on it….for good reason. One of those reasons is safety. We keep his chest of drawers locked in the closet so he can’t climb on top of it and tip it over. And Landon LOVES to climb. The other reason we keep his closet locked is so he can’t remove every article of clothing and item from the closet and throw it on the floor which he also LOVES to do! So it was a little overwhelming to see the disaster in his room this morning!

All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

1 Corinthians 4:15-16

So today, if I’m honest, it was a little harder to come up with something to be thankful for. I’m human. But today I am choosing to be thankful for Landon. I’m thankful for his strength, his physical health, his energy, and his smile. He helps me focus on what’s really important. He helps me remember Who gives me strength every day. I can do nothing on my own. He reminds me to have an eternal perspective. One day it will all make sense. Landon reminded me today that true thankfulness doesn’t depend on circumstances. It is based on who God is. And God is good all the time.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.

1 Timothy 1:12

Feeding Sheep

I was recently reading John 21 where Jesus is questioning Peter about His love for Him. Each time Peter answers in the affirmative, and Jesus follows up with the command for Peter to feed His sheep. His meaning is that, if Peter truly loves his Master, he is to shepherd and care for those who belong to Christ. I read it over and over again and couldn’t stop thinking about it.

To me this speaks to what should motivate us to do what God calls us to do. Our motivation to follow Jesus should be love. If you love someone you won’t be worried about following rules, not sinning, doing the “right things”. All of those things fall into place if you love someone. You gladly serve! If we are in love with Jesus and have Him as first place in our life we will want to love who and what our number one love (Jesus) does! We will want to “feed the sheep”.

Now I’ll be honest, I really wanted to know what exactly “feeding the sheep” meant so I looked it up in several Bible commentaries and I believe Jesus is saying to Peter to speak the Word to the people and preach the gospel. That is how Peter would show his love for Jesus and the sheep (the people). Jesus tells Peter if you love me, you’ll feed my sheep.

That got me to thinking about all the shepherding analogies in the Bible and what it really means to be a shepherd. I was once asked by someone what I was “gifted” at. My answer was “I take care of people (children, family) that’s what I do.”

At the time my answer felt pretty insignificant. But when I think about it, maybe something which seems so small and mostly goes unnoticed, is really the very heart of what Jesus did and who He was….the heart of a servant.

This brings me to the thought that we are all members of the body of Christ. We each fill different roles and honestly one body part is not better than another. It takes all parts working together to make up one body. We all have different functions and jobs to do. I think it is so important to note here that it is a GOOD thing to encourage others as they serve in their role/their part of the body. Yet it is also important to see our own worth in the body. Jesus sure sees it! Don’t think your role isn’t as good as someone else’s. EVERY single part is necessary. Every individual has incredible value! Don’t be afraid to tell others if you see that value in them. It may encourage and bless them more than you’ll ever know.

So what does all this have to do with shepherding? Jesus tells Peter “If you love me you’ll feed my sheep.” As I was reading about shepherds I found three primary roles they take in caring for the sheep.

They lead the sheep.

They feed the sheep.

They tend the sheep.

Each member of the body of Christ/disciple of Christ will have a gift or several gifts that they can use in caring for the sheep. If you aren’t sure what your gifts are you can take a spiritual gifts test. There are lots of free ones online. Also knowing your personality type along with your spiritual gifts can be really helpful in learning how to serve in the body of Christ. There are tons of free personality tests online, too. Remember, you are special and uniquely made and God has an amazing purpose for you in shepherding others for Him. He will help you find just what that is if you trust Him. We serve because we love the one who first loved us.

John 21:15-17

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

James 1:17

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

I Corinthians 12

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

And yet I will show you the most excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13

If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Cathedrals of God’s Love

I recently read an article called “The Invisible Mother.” The article talked about a mom who was feeling discouraged and unappreciated and basically invisible to everyone. One night the mom had dinner with a friend who was returning on a trip from England. The friend gave her a book about great cathedrals built in Europe and had written in the inscription: ‘With admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees.’

The mom learned 4 truths from the book which were:

1) No one can say who built the great cathedrals – there were no records of their names.

2) These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished.

3) They made great sacrifices and expected no credit.

4) The passion of their building was fuelled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

The article also mentions the following legend that was written in the book:

A rich man came to visit a cathedral while  being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man,

‘Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof.  No one will ever see it’

And the workman replied, ‘Because God sees.’

God sees all that we do whether or not anyone else does. I think the invisible idea could be applied to pretty much any person because at one time or another we’ve all felt this way. We are all building some type of “cathedral” with our lives whether we realize it or not. What are we building and what is it based on? Our “cathedral” or what we do with our time, our gifts, and our money, should be for God, not ourselves, the true Creator of all things. All we have is for Him. Who we are, the talents we have, relationships we have, all of it belongs to Him.

But, as I thought about all of this,  it seemed like something was missing, something deeper. After thinking about it for a while, I realized what it was.

I think the whole idea should be taken a step further. More important than what we are building here on earth with our lives is the question of why? Why are we building our cathedral?

I believe God wants us to remember the answer to “why we are building our cathedral” not so we can feel lowly, but so we can experience the richness of His love and share it with others!

His love is the bottom line. Our cathedrals (our lives) are simply a reflection of God’s love and who He is. Hopefully they are a shining, beautiful reflection! But it really isn’t about us at all. We can build all the cathedrals in the world,  do all the good deeds, etc., but if we miss His love, we missed the whole point. His love is the reason for building in the first place. His love is the foundation. Honestly, for me, I really don’t care about much else. Material things are so insignificant compared to His love!

My husband describes me as a “mushy” person. I agree. I’m a hopeless romantic who loves hugs, kind words, thoughtful letters, love songs, and small sentimental gifts, etc.  So what’s the point and why does this matter? Because all of those things show love! Love is the driving force behind each and every one of them. If human love can be so strong and feel like such a powerful thing, how much greater is God’s love!

Imagine the most loved you’ve ever felt from a human relationship and multiply it by a thousand. It still doesn’t touch the amount of love God has for us. God’s gifts of love towards us are much greater than any human tokens of love we will ever receive!

To me, that is the point of the cathedral building…reflecting Jesus’ love. It isn’t about us being invisible at all. It’s about Him! We should try to reflect as much of His wonderful love as we can towards others. His love should be our focus as we build our cathedrals. In the craziness of life, we need to remember who He is and His great love for us. When we remember His perfect love for us, all of the goodness and greatness of who He is will be reflected in our “cathedral”.

No one person’s “cathedral” or contribution to a cathedral looks the same.  All that matters is that we build the cathedral God calls us to build. Our cathedral doesn’t need to be compared to someone else’s and we don’t need to judge another’s cathedral if it doesn’t meet our expectations! It’s unfortunate that so many get stuck comparing and judging their life with others. Our cathedral should simply be to glorify God.

We have to remind ourselves that we aren’t unseen whether we feel like it or not. The whole reason He made us is because He loves us. It’s because of His great love that we are never invisible. I have to remind myself of that at times, and it’s okay, so long as I come back to the truth. The truth that God loves and sees me, always. Just as He loves and sees you. Prayerfully, we can keep our focus on God and His great love as we are building. His love is what we want to reflect and it will certainly never be invisible.

Tiffany

Ephesians 5:2

Live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Colossians 3:12-14

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11

According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 11:10

For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

Goodness of God

goodness[good-nis]

noun

the state or quality of being good.

moral excellence; virtue.

kindly feeling; kindness; generosity.

excellence of quality:

goodness of workmanship.

the best part of anything; essence; strength.

This is the definition of goodness I found on dictionary.com. I love the last sentence:

the best part of anything; essence; strength.

I love how God gives us the best parts of life. All the good things are from Him. They didn’t just happen by chance. God gave them to us because He is good.

I heard a worship song the other day called The Goodness of God. I listened to it over and over and it reminded me to focus on the blessings He has given me. Life can be tough, He never said it would be easy, but He gives us good gifts. Gifts like health, shelter, food, bills paid, friendships, etc. I don’t want to forget His goodness, even if I’m having a hard day or facing a difficulty. His goodness doesn’t change. God is the best part of anything; the essence of goodness, our strength! Here are the lyrics to the Goodness of God:

I love You, Lord

For Your mercy never failed me

All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands

From the moment that I wake up

Until I lay my head

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

And all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice

You have led me through the fire

And in darkest night You are close like no other

I’ve known You as a Father

I’ve known You as a Friend

And I have lived in the goodness of God, yeah!

And all my life You have been faithful, oh

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God, yeah!

‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now

I give You everything

‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me, oh-oh

‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now

I give You everything

‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it keeps running after me

And all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna sing

‘Cause all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

James 1:17

Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Matthew 7:11

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
